This webinar is designed to increase insight on the long and proud history of women warriors with the American military. It will also identify the unique difficulties and challenges faced by women warriors and problems with adjustment upon return to rural communities. Finally, suggestions for optional ways of helping woman warriors in rural communities will be provided.

Learning Objectives

  1. To review the history of women warriors in the American military
  2. To explore the unique challenges faced by women warriors in America's military today
  3. To identify changes in women warriors that make adjustment difficult upon returning from a combat zone
  4. To discuss some options for helping women warriors in rural communities. 

Your Presenters

Chaplain Priscilla Mondt

Chaplain Priscilla Mondt serves as Chief of Chaplain Service at Veterans Affairs Medical Center where she is responsible for a comprehensive spiritual care program. As a full career Army Veteran, including Desert Storm and Iraqi Freedom, Chaplain Mondt is the recipient of the Bronze Star and Legion of Merit. She is a visionary leader whose innovative approach to spiritual care, from personal care to technology, set a high standard for addressing the needs of Veteran patients and families. Chaplain Mondt is well-known throughout the US for speaking on women's military issues and is a recipient of the White House's Champions of Change award.

  

Dr. Jim Goalder

James Goalder, Ph.D., is a licensed clinical psychologist and currently works as the Coordinator of the Rural Clergy Training Program (RCTP). He worked as a clinical psychologist at the VA Medical Center in Hampton, Virginia for 20 years, retiring in 2010. While there, his clinical care emphasized work with dually diagnosed combat Veterans and those with sequelae from both combat and sexual trauma.
