VETERANS AND CAREGIVERS
Connections to Your VA Resources
As the U.S. Department of Veterans Affairs' lead advocate for rural health, the Office of Rural Health (ORH) is working to improve the health and well-being of rural Veterans by increasing their access to care and services.
To accomplish its vision that Veterans thrive in rural communities, ORH supports national programs that reduce barriers to care and address rural Veterans' health care challenges. These programs are broken down into two categories:
- Rural Promising Practices are field-tested innovative projects that meet ORH criteria demonstrating improved access to care for rural Veterans.
- Enterprise-Wide Initiatives expand national VA program offices’ access to health care efforts to sites that serve rural Veterans.
Rural Veterans and their caregivers can access background information on VA rural programs and additional materials in the ORH newsroom.
ORH encourages rural Veterans and their caregivers to work at the local level to resolve health care challenges; however, if issues persist email the Office of Rural Health.
